Department of Urdu IUB Bahawalpur

Introduction
The department of Urdu & Iqbaliat was established in 1976. The department has efficiently been running three programs i.e M.A, M.Phil and Ph.D. At present, there are nine faculty members; two Professors, one Associate Professor, three Assistant Professor and three Lecturers. The six out of nine faculty members are Ph.D while the three teachers are registered for Ph.D. There are 91 students enrolled in M.A., 20 scholars in M.Phil and 12 scholars in Ph.D Programs during the session 2006-2007. The Ph.D program was initiated in 1987. 24 scholars have been awarded Ph.D degrees and 25 scholars awarded M.Phil degrees so far. The department has a well-equipped departmental Library. Maglis-e-Iqbal is a students’ society, which organizes and conducts many co-curricular activities. Parents and sports days are among the significant events of the Department.
